The Breakdown of Redefine and Reveal Myotherapy and Bodywork

Redefine: "Give new meaning to" My goal as a massage therapist is to change the narrative of massage therapy regarding the impression that massage's purpose is simply to relax without providing any actual relief. In reality, massage therapy is beneficial for everyone, especially when they suffer from any acute and chronic reoccurring pain like migraines or fibromyalgia, injuries or trauma related injuries.

Reveal: "I never knew I was that sore or tense" This is a common phrase I hear throughout so many massages. There is so much discovery of one's body when they receive a massage that goes deeper than the surface. They realize there's pain where they least expected, often times the culprit of the pain they are referring to. Our bodies have a deceiving way to 'normalize' pain and with our muscle imbalances and poor posture habits, we get used to it. Overtime that becomes a problem, which is why finding the right massage therapist who will assess, feel, and provide a plan that is more therapeutic in nature is the best for achieving long-term relief.

Myotherapy: "Myo=Muscle" This type of treatment provides a more clinical approach to massage, focusing on the body holistically with intention to tackle various conditions head on- getting below the myofascial and into our muscles- with a goal to heal the body or body part effected. Modalities such as active and passive stretching, PNF stretching, cross-fiber friction, deep tissue and icing are commonly used. Myotherapy is a specialty practice so be sure to find someone who is a Certified Myotherapist.

Bodywork: Scientifically assess aches, pains, and dysfunction that are not adequately responsive to the usual localized treatment (at the location of symptoms) of neuromuscular and myofascial structures. There are over 300 modalities of bodywork practices such as deep tissue, cupping, thai massage, etc.
